F1 | Alfa Romeo, Antonio Giovinazzi: “I tried to avoid contact with Kimi”

Two positions recovered for Antonio Giovinazzi in the Sprint Race at Interlagos. The driver from Puglia, fifteenth in Friday's qualifying, starts from fourteenth place - thanks to Lewis Hamilton's disqualification - on soft tyre. At the start he manages to recover positions, but what characterizes his Sprint Race is the contact with teammate Kimi Raikkonen, who spins in turn one. A racing accident, as Antonio himself explains - now aware that he is in the final stages of his Formula 1 career with Zhou's imminent announcement. At the checkered flag, Giovinazzi was thirteenth and will start from the seventh row next to Lance Stroll.

"The result of the sprint isn't that bad, thirteenth position isn't the best, but we can have some good battles. I'm happy with how the race went and can't wait to find out what happens in the next one – said Antonio – regarding the accident with Kimi, it's a shame that we touched each other: I really don't know what happened, there were three of us lined up on the straight, I took the inside and suddenly Kimi was on the outside. The tires touched, I tried to avoid it, but there was really nothing I could do: I was on the inside and I braked normally. Unfortunately, I sustained some damage to the front wing, which gave me a bit of understeer in the last corner. Now let's focus on the race: we will give our best, driving in Brazil is always exciting, it's difficult to understand what to expect".
