F1 | Alfa Romeo, Antonio Giovinazzi is twelfth: "The car has improved"

Antonio Giovinazzi can rejoice on the Portimao circuit: the driver from Martina Franca hits the target and enters Q2, qualifying in twelfth place. The standard bearer will share the sixth row with George Russell's Williams, while teammate Kimi Raikkonen is only fifteenth, six tenths behind Giovinazzi. The Italian replicates the qualifying result in Bahrain, while in Imola, despite the good pace, Antonio was unable to set a good lap due to the accident with Nikita Mazepin. Twelfth position will allow Giovinazzi to choose his strategy to try to win the first points of the season.

"I'm happy with twelfth place, because it shows how much we are improving: we are very close to Q3, but at least we can choose the best strategy for tomorrow – Giovinazzi commented – the car improved a lot compared to yesterday, even if the conditions were complicated. It seems that we have found the pace shown in Bahrain, after the bad qualifying in Imola, but now we have to exploit it in the race too. Getting the strategy right will be fundamental, together with a good start and a good race: our pace was good yesterday, I think we can have fun. I can't wait".
