F1 | Albon on the accident in Bahrain: “I'm fine, I'm sorry for the guys”
"We need to work and understand how to make the most of the compounds," declared the Thai
At the end of the second free practice session valid for the Bahrain Grand Prix, the third to last event of this 2020 Formula 1 world championship, Alex Albon spoke about the bad accident that put an early end to his afternoon session, underlining how the "crash" was was caused by the lack of rear grip and a set-up that was not yet perfect.
Despite a good start, the Thai lost his "compass" between FP1 and FP2, an aspect that will have to push the team to find the key to the problem in the session scheduled for tomorrow morning on the Sakhir track in Bahrain.
“In the first free practices the car adapted well to the track, but in FP2 we changed something in terms of set-up and the situation changed slightly, especially in terms of grip,” Albon said. “The accident happened in a strange way, but I'm fine.”
“I'm only sorry for the guys who will have to get the car back together during the night,” the Thai continued. “Throughout the year we have suffered from wear on the rear tyres, while here we seem to be suffering with the fronts. We have to work and understand how to make them last longer. The 2021 tires didn't offer me much grip, but we're talking about prototypes, so there's the possibility of developing them in the best way."
