The former driver is enthusiastic about his new role: "What is important is that Renault can be competitive and win as soon as possible"
During the presentation of the new Renault 2017 at the launch event live from London, the official announcement has arrived: Alain Prost appointed special advisor for 2017. He, therefore, has the task of using his vast experience and knowledge as a former driver and boss to help the team achieve its seasonal objectives.
It was indeed the president of Renault Sport Racing, Jerome Stoll, confirmed it live: “Prost will be a member of the executive committee of Renault Sport. He will bring to the team his great experience and also the ability to talk to the riders”, Stoll said.
Already a long-time Renault ambassador, co-founder of the EDams team in Formula E with Jean-Paul Driot, Prost commented on the new assignment, specifying that his work will not be "day to day": “What is important is that Renault can be competitive and win as soon as possible. Sometimes it's good to work behind the scenes. Being on the commission is important to make the best decision and the best strategy to be a winning team for the future.", commented.
Furthermore, the former pilot also spoke about the upcoming ones winter tests in Barcelona next week, certainly not hiding his enthusiasm and great anticipation: “I'm very excited, as you can imagine looking at the size of the car it feels like going back to the old days, when we also had big tyres,” Prost added. “It will be good for F1, a new cycle was needed, I hope it can bring new spectators, especially the younger ones,” he concluded.
