F1 | Abiteboul on the market: “We are also evaluating Zhou and Lundgaard for 2021”

Despite numerous market rumors relating to the arrival of Fernando Alonso in Renault, Cyril Abiteboul did not want to exclude the "Academy" card for 2021, underlining how the French team is carefully following the growth of Guanyu Zhou and Christian lundgaard, talents who will face the Formula 2020 championship in 2.

According to the French manager, the positive growth of these two drivers in the cadet category could lead the transalpine team to invest in them for the future, perhaps with a promotion to Formula 1 alongside the confirmed Esteban Ocon.

“We want to see what the pace of Guanyu Zhou and Christian Lundgaard will be,” said Cyril Abiteboul. “In 2020 we will evaluate their competitiveness. These could be fantastic options. Maybe it seems a little bold to think so now, but who knows? With another F2 season it might be the right thing for them to do.”
