F1 | Abiteboul: “Something was missing last year”

The team principal of the French team reflected on the past season from which it emerged with considerable difficulties but above all it was beaten by the customer team, McLaren and the hiring of Daniel Ricciardo was of little value.

According to Cyril Abiteboul, over the winter the team identified the chassis as the biggest problem. From February, Pat Fry (formerly of McLaren who also collaborated with Ferrari, ed.) will arrive at Renault.

“We discovered halfway through the season that there was some sort of limit in the development of the car. Despite large investments it was as if something was missing in the technical direction and precisely in obtaining the most from our resources".
