F1 | Abiteboul: “Honda invests more than Renault”

The team principal of the French team admitted that he is worried about the latest developments from the Japanese manufacturer.
Some believe that the next measures taken by Honda, will make the power unit closer in performance to the Renault and more like Mercedes e Ferrari. At the end of this season, the Red Bull it will no longer be a Renault customer, but will join Honda.

As is well known, the partnership McLaren-Honda it was a failure, however Cyril Abiteboul revealed that the latest signs coming from Honda are that the changes made to the engine really work.

“Yes, frankly I'm worried about everything in life, but especially about the engine”, said the Frenchman.

“As we have seen since last year, Honda is making great strides forward. Red Bull has been very clear that they are investing massively, and apparently much more than us. We are happy for them and Honda, but frankly we have our way of doing things, we have a plan and we are executing it. It's not just an arms race.".

Renault has signed Daniel Ricciardo, but the Australian's next teammate, Nico Hulkenberg, recently admitted that the team didn't make the expected progress this year.

Abiteboul said Renault has a different task than the new Red Bull-Honda alliance.

“We have all aspects of the package to develop, nobody gives us anything, neither on the powertrain nor on the chassis, so it goes step by step. We are very confident in our update for next year. We want to play for the long term.".
