F1 2013: 9 races free to air on Rai, agreement reached with Sky

Rai and Sky have reached an agreement to broadcast nine Grands Prix of the 2013 Formula 1 season free-to-air on the public broadcaster. As of this year, Sky has exclusive rights over F1 and for a sum of just under 50 million Euros has sold the rights to 9 out of 19 Grands Prix, which will therefore be visible on both broadcasters.

Of the first four races, however, only one will be broadcast live by Rai and it is hypothesized that the choice will fall on the inaugural race in Australia on March 17 but there is no confirmation on this yet. However, it is certain that the Monaco GP will not be broadcast live by Rai which will still offer deferred broadcasting of all the 2013 races.
