Ex Honda: Force India could have vetoed Mercedes engines

Force India could have vetoed the supply of Mercedes-Benz engines to the former Honda team. This was revealed by the boss of the Silverstone team, Vijay Mallya. Force India has already secured close technical collaboration with Mercedes and McLaren for 2009 and FIA rules limit each manufacturer to working with just two teams.

“The FIA, I believe, has given a special green light to Mercedes to supply the engine to the former Honda team for one year,” Mallya told Reuters. "I'm happy that they accepted in the interest of the sport because a team has already disappeared from the grid, Super Aguri in 2008, and I would have hated to see another team disappear in 2009" he added, explaining that he was confident about the survival of the former Honda team.
