Ericsson in the running for reserve role at Mercedes

At Mercedes the third driver will not be Nick Heidfeld. The German was considered among the favorites who could have joined Nico Rosberg, in the event that Schumacher would not return to racing.

After 169 grands prix, Heidfeld runs the risk of being left without a seat, although Nick "the quick" could join Robert Kubica in Renault.

According to what was reported by the Finnish newspaper Turun Sanomat, the young Marcus Ericsson, winner of the Japanese F3, currently seems to be the favorite as a reserve in the three-pointed star's team.

We also read in the Finnish newspaper that FOTA seems intent on granting young drivers a test session every Friday preceding a grand prix.

Ericsson tested for Mercedes with the 2009 world champion car during the session dedicated to rookies.
