Emilio Botin investigated for tax fraud
di Alessandro Secchi22 June, 2011
Emilio Botin, President of Banco Santander, is under investigation for Tax Fraud together with some members of his family.
The Spanish judicial authorities have opened an investigation into alleged irregularities dating back to the period 2005 - 2009, in which some funds in current accounts of the HSBC bank (Private Bank Suisse) were not declared.
The amount of the tax fraud, according to what was declared by the Judicial Authorities, would be around a figure exceeding €120.000.
Botin and the other suspects have already submitted documents relating to the 'indicted' period, but the tax administration will have to verify these documents to determine whether there have actually been violations. Otherwise, the investigation will be closed.
