Ecclestone apologized for comments about dictators

After describing his comments about Hitler as "a great misunderstanding" to the German press, Bernie Ecclestone also apologized to the British press. Several Jewish associations called for his resignation after the controversial Times interview, while a German minister canceled a meeting scheduled for this weekend to discuss the future of F1 at Hockenheim.

"First, I apologise," Ecclestone said in an op-ed for The Times on Tuesday, reiterating that he "did not support the atrocities committed by Hitler and "explained his points very badly".

In another interview, given to the Jewish Chronicle, Ecclestone said he was "simply sorry for having been so stupid", revealing that he cried after visiting the Yad Yashem memorial in Jerusalem.
