Ecclestone: F1 needs a Beckham

The owner of the Formula One rights, Bernie Ecclestone, admitted that to revitalize the world of Formula One, we would need stronger characters, with greater glamour, such as some football players. The player David Beckham would be ideal for motor sport, because the Englishman, in addition to knowing how to play, has been an icon for advertising and high fashion brands for years. “There is no Messi in F1,” the 78-year-old was quoted as saying by El Mundo newspaper, referring to the Argentine player.
Joking with journalists, the man then expressed his dream, that of seeing a black or Jewish woman in Formula One.
