Ecclestone confirms that the Italian GP remains in Monza
Provide precise assurances to the president of the ACI, Enrico Gelpi.
“<>. This is what Bernie Ecclestone assured me, with whom I had a conversation on the sidelines of the World Sports Council meeting today in Bahrain." This was declared by Enrico Gelpi, president of the ACI, national automotive sports authority and member of the FIA. The meeting was wanted by Gelpi, worried about the controversy that arose from the announcement of the planned holding of a GP in Rome in 2013.
“Ecclestone's assurances – added Gelpi – confirm what has been reiterated several times by the ACI: the possibility of separating the indissoluble combination between Monza and the Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix has never existed”.
Ecclestone also clarified to the president of the ACI that, according to the agreements with the organizers of the Rome GP, it is excluded that the Capitoline race could be awarded the title of Italian Grand Prix.
