Ecclestone categorical: “19 races this year”

There will be 19 and not 20 races of the 1 Formula 2013 World Championship. It was the circus boss himself who clarified the situation, Bernie Ecclestone. which closed the doors to those who indicated July 21st as the date to organize a grand prix in Europe at the last moment. In recent days there has been talk of a stop in France and Portugal, but even before that references to Austria and Turkey had appeared. Well, nothing to be done.

Ecclestone said it clearly in Dubai, where he is about to sign a sponsorship agreement with the Emirates airline. “The calendar is now complete: it's too late to add another race”, he stated, further explaining that it is not possible to include a third grand prix in the Middle East, given the already presence of the Abu Dhabi and Bahrain GPs.

Next year, with the Russian Grand Prix in Sochi, there should be a return to 20 races. In this regard Ecclestone was satisfied: “Everything seems to be going in the right direction, I was very impressed with what has been done”.
