Domenicali: “Sauber close to renewal for Ferrari engines”

A new agreement between Sauber and Ferrari could be announced at the Italian GP in two weeks. This was revealed by Ferrari team principal Stefano Domenicali on Sunday in Spa. “As you know, we want to continue to supply our engines to Sauber,” declared the Italian. “So I hope we can resolve all the formalities soon.”

Recently there had been talk of no longer idyllic relations between the Swiss team and the Maranello company due to missed payments for the current V8 engines.

But it seems that the Russian funds of the new Sauber partners have already come to the rescue of the team's activity. The team's CEO, Monisha Kaltenborn, confirmed: "Yes, there are no problems with negotiations, so I hope we can reach an agreement soon."

To those who asked her about the possibility of an announcement in Monza she replied: “Of course. We have never considered other options, and we don't plan to do so now."

Kaltenborn hinted that the relationship between Sauber and Ferrari could strengthen for 2014 with the start of the turbo era: “We'll see if it makes sense. We have worked a lot together and I think both sides are ready. We know each other well and collaborate perfectly, we'll see how things develop."
