Domenicali: “This championship seems to be a real ups and downs of emotions”

The two Scuderia Ferrari single-seaters that took to the track yesterday in the Monaco Grand Prix returned to Maranello in the early hours of the morning. After the assessments carried out in the Principality based on telemetry data, the technicians today analyzed all the parts of Felipe Massa's car, and in particular those damaged in the violent impact that occurred during the twenty-ninth lap of the race.

The responses confirmed the first impressions of the technical staff, confirming the failure of an element of the front left suspension as the cause of the accident. Having completed the analyzes necessary to investigate what happened on the Monegasque circuit, the 'vehicle assembly' department will now be busy overhauling the single-seaters in view of the Canadian Grand Prix. The cars will leave for Montreal next weekend, for the eagerly awaited test on the Gilles Villeneuve circuit which promises to be very important for the Scuderia's world championship.

“This championship seems to be a real ups and downs of emotions” – commented Stefano Domenicali – “A positive weekend is always followed by a negative one. It had been like this in the first four non-European races, and things have not changed since we returned to the old continent. I can confirm that we were not elated when we won, nor flagellated when things went worse than expected. But now it will be important to find consistency in performance."

“The World Championship is very balanced” – confirmed Domenicali – “With strong and increasingly numerous opponents. A scenario in which every point is precious and every cent of performance becomes important. And obviously we know very well that one less reliability problem can be of crucial importance in the economy of the championship. We have a lot of work to do in the next few days to best prepare for the trip to Montreal. We have all rolled up our sleeves and concentrated on the commitments that await us."

The latest information has confirmed the good news that arrived regarding Felipe Massa's condition yesterday evening. The Brazilian driver will need a few days of rest, but he is already focused on preparing for the Canadian Grand Prix, a race in which the Brazilian's presence has never been in question.

“The best news to come from the Monte Carlo weekend is that Felipe is well” – concluded Domenicali – “Two major accidents, just over twenty-four hours apart, have brought only a little of soreness. Fortunately there were no other physical consequences."

Quiet Monday instead for Fernando Alonso, but the Spanish driver's agenda is, as usual, very busy. Fernando will be in Italy tomorrow to take the field in the Match of the Heart which will be played in Turin. The event at the Juventus Stadium will also see Giancarlo Fisichella present.
