Domenicali: “The F138 is an evolution of last year's car”

Stefano Domenicali, Ferrari team principal, stated that the main objective is to have a competitive car from the first race of the season and explained how the creation of the F138 started with a different organization of work.

“Ferrari's victories are the starting point for taking up the sporting challenge again this year, with a single objective: to fuel our history of incredible and prestigious numbers. The objective is to immediately give our drivers a competitive car. In recent years we have suffered the winter period, we were not ready immediately and for this reason we tried to work better, to be more effective. We come from an emotionally intense season – Domenicali said again – Coming second in the last race is always difficult, but from last year we have already forgotten the aspects that left a bad taste in our mouth and from last year we start by trying to improve the positive aspects such as reliability, almost race strategies optimal, these are the foundations with which we must look forward. This year's machine started from a different work organization, we introduced targeted resources.”

The new single-seater is, in reality, an evolution of the F2012. Ahead of the first race in Melbourne, the F138 will undergo some changes in order to find the right set-up to maximize performance.

“It is an evolution of last year's car also because the regulations have not changed but this car is only the first step of what will be different already in the first race in Australia. The next tests will see us as protagonists immediately, not to seek immediate performance but to verify the things we have defined from a simulation point of view in our technical offices."
