Dennis: “Brabham a true legend”

One of the first reactions to the disappearance of the legendary --Jack Brabham which took place on Tuesday morning following a long illness was that of Ron Dennis, the manager McLaren who began his long career in motors as a mechanic with the Australian.

“The word “legend” is commonly used to define successful sportsmen, often exaggerating their merits, but as far as Jack is concerned this term is amply justified – we read in the press release – A three-time world champion, he remains to this day the only one to have won a title in F1 driving a single-seater created by himself and I believe it is unlikely that anyone will be able to repeat the feat. When I began to take my first steps in this environment at the end of the '60s I did so initially with Cooper, later with him and despite my immaturity I immediately recognized his greatness. For this reason I will always consider it a true honor and privilege to have been able to work with a person who taught me so much. On behalf of the team I therefore want to pay homage to one of the most illustrious figures in the history of racing and extend my condolences to the family."
