Tests in Jerez affected by reliability problems

Daniil Kvyat: “At the next test we will be ready to recover”

Daniil Kvyat finally had his first taste of the new car on track ahead of the 2014 season. The Russian managed to complete eight laps at the wheel of the STR9 before stopping due to a problem with some systems. Once that was sorted he managed to complete a further lap in the afternoon. Clearly, the team has had a difficult time in the last four days, although this is always a possibility determined by the change in rules. However, Toro Rosso engineers and its partners now have two weeks to study the situation and be much better prepared for the next four days of testing which will kick off at the Sakhir circuit in Bahrain on February 19th.

Daniil Kvyat: “As a rookie I have so much to learn, this week in Jerez was not the start I would have liked. However, I trust my team and I trust Renault, so with hard work, I'm sure we can be in better shape and start recovering at the next test. There were some positives, because we acquired some useful data, even with limited operation. Some questions have therefore already been answered and I was able to get a first feel for the car in wet conditions."
