From 2018 only 3 engines per pilot?

The proposal to reduce spending will be discussed in the coming weeks

From 2018 only 3 engines per pilot?

In an increasingly expensive and unsustainable F1 for the "little ones" who struggle to make ends meet, the big names have launched a proposal, the reduction from 2018 of the number of drive units available per driver. No longer five like now, but three.

“We still have two weeks available before the final meeting of the Strategic Group, but as regards the engine we have already reached an agreement which only needs to be approved by the shareholders” – revealed the manager Mercedes Toto Wolff.

“Our objective is to lower costs so if an alternative type of engine is not found, we will have to intervene on the parts budget” – said the President Ferrari Sergio Marchionne.

“The idea for 2017 is to limit spending on power units to 12 million euros. The entry of independents seems to be the only way to achieve this and to level performance. That said, the problem cannot be solved like this. We will have to discuss it further” – the boss's thoughts Red Bull Christian Horner.
