More stringent criteria defined for obtaining the Superlicense

From 2016 no F1 for minors

In recent days there has been much discussion about the issue of Max Verstappen, the Dutchman who will debut next year in Formula 1 with Toro Rosso at the very young age of 17. In order to avoid similar cases recurring, the FIA adopted today in the World Council three new criteria which from 2016 must be met to obtain the Superlicence.

The three criteria recall three concepts: safety, experience and performance.

In reference to safety, a driver must be at least 18 years old and in possession of a driving license plus proven knowledge of the sporting regulations.

To obtain the Super License it will be necessary to do at least 300 km driving a Formula 1 in private tests or in collective tests. Furthermore, you will need to have two years of experience in preparatory formulas.

A scoring system will soon be drawn up which will be based on the results in the preparatory formulas.
