Coulthard didn't want to be Ferrari's No. 2 driver

The former McLaren and Red Bull Scot talks in the columns of the Daily Telegraph about the current situation within the team between Vettel and Webber and reveals that he rejected a proposal from Ferrari who called him to be the second driver.

David is convinced that Red Bull offers equal treatment to both drivers, he who raced there for two seasons with Webber, invites the Australian and not to exaggerate Saturday's episode in qualifying, so he talks about the strategies that the teams use with the drivers: “You can openly favor one driver over the other, this is the most effective method for winning championships but it is also the least correct from a moral point of view. Schumacher-era Ferrari applied this model. I once rejected the possibility of a move to Ferrari because I didn't want to be Michael's number two."

Then Coulthard continues by illustrating the method that his former team applies and Webber's current situation: “The second system is the fairest but it is very unstable and difficult to put into practice. Mark is currently trying to influence the team by stirring up the media whenever he suffers a foul play. It is a risky strategy because if things go wrong the relationship with the team could be irreparably compromised. If he manages to come out of it without controversy, he will attract the sympathy of the public and will be remembered as a champion who fought against the difficulties of winning a title."
