Coulthard: “Alonso is not a real option for Red Bull”

Daniel Ricciardo and Kimi Raikkonen are both "two good options" for Red Bull to replace Mark Webber for 2014. This is the thought of former F1 driver David Coulthard, who believes that rumors of Red Bull's interest in Fernando Alonso are not founded.

“His manager did what any good manager should do, talk to all the teams,” the Scotsman, now a Red Bull consultant, told Formule 1 magazine.

“Fernando is undoubtedly frustrated because he doesn't win as often as a driver of his skill would expect. But Ferrari is a top team and will certainly win GPs again” added Coulthard.

Coulthard believes a run-off between Raikkonen and Ricciardo is more likely: “With Kimi you know you're on the safe side. His records speak for him. However, when Sebastian Vettel arrived at Red Bull he had only won one race. But there was no doubt that he deserved a chance. Daniel Ricciardo also demonstrated his talent. Red Bull knows him well and could represent the brand very well. It's not a decision that's up to me, but if I had to choose, like everyone else I would look at all the data from all perspectives and make a judgment considering the big picture."
