Costa: “Team games between Red Bull and Toro Rosso in Abu Dhabi”

Ferrari was the victim of "team games" during the last race in Abu Dhabi. This is the thought of the technical director of the Italian team, Aldo Costa, who suspects that the two teams that belong to Red Bull, Red Bull Racing and Toro Rosso, cooperated to influence the strategy that Ferrari had for Fernando Alonso.

At Ferrari they admitted that it was a mistake to stop Alonso so early to mark Red Bull driver Mark Webber, who then remained behind Jaime Alguersuari's Toro Rosso for a while before overtaking him.
The newspaper “La Repubblica” asked Aldo Costa if Ferrari's strategists were too interested in overtaking Red Bull cars.
“We were crucified for team games; what we saw in Abu Dhabi was a team effort” he said, perhaps suggesting that the Ferrari pit wall was fooled into thinking that Alonso would also have no difficulties later in the race.
“Anyway, we made some impulsive assessments and it went badly,” Costa said.
Obviously Adrian Newey has a different view of the Webber-Alguersuari affair, believing that the Spaniard stood up to the Australian rather than letting him pass.
“It's only because Mark was blocked by Jaime that they (Ferrari) managed to mark him, and therefore Toro Rosso did us a big favour. Rather unintentionally, I think,” said Red Bull's technical director.
