Official statement from the FIA: “Don't hire Nigel Stepney”

The FIA, the body that regulates and manages Formula 1, took the trouble to issue an official statement after hearing Nigel Stepney on Friday, the former Ferrari technician guilty of having passed relevant information to McLaren.

In essence, the document disclosed yesterday suggests to all those who are licensees of the Federation - starting with the Formula 1 teams - not to offer employment to Nigel Stepney until July 2009, given that the International Sporting Code cannot be used to suspend an authorization to operate that does not exist for technicians. In the official press release, it is also specified that the interested party admitted his responsibilities to the FIA.
