Chandhok hints that he will drive on Friday for Team Lotus

Karun Chandhok has hinted that he is close to signing a contract with Team Lotus to drive at Grand Prix Fridays. The Indian made his F1 debut with HRT in 2010 but due to problems with sponsors he was replaced mid-season.

According to the PTI agency, Chandhok said: “I like the idea of creating an Asian team with Asian drivers, mechanics, engineers, PR and marketing,” explained the Indian. “Tony Fernandes is trying to replicate what he did with Air Asia,” Chandhok added, declaring that he had not yet signed a contract.

“Nothing is final until there is a contract in your hands. It will take two or three weeks. Maybe they are negotiating with 20 other drivers,” added Chandhok.

“I want to be involved in a medium-term plan for two or three years. It would allow us to build a relationship, grow together. I'm looking for stability. In 2011 I will learn even if I will only drive on Fridays” concluded the driver.
