Caterham, Van der Garde: “Nice to see my name in Q2”

Monegasque Saturday brought a surprise to the Caterham. Normal with Pic, instead he stuck out his claws and clawed an excellent fifteenth place with Van der Garde.

“Obviously I'm sorry I didn't get into Q2 too – said Charles, 18th – This morning I suffered from understeer so we spent a large part of the session trying to resolve the problem and find a good balance, towards the end then things went better, but even with the super soft tires I wasn't able to make the time I wanted. In qualifying, however, I went out immediately and put together some good laps with the intermediates, but then with the last set it wasn't possible because I encountered some traffic. All in all, starting in this position in Monaco is not entirely bad. The pace over the distance is decent and the degradation of the tires is also good, so we'll see in the race."

“I'm very happy to have entered my name in Q2 for the first time – he declared Giedo – In FP3 I went out very early on the softer tyres, but like my partner I suffered a lot of understeer and had to use the accelerator to help the car turn, so we made some changes and have improved since then. In qualifying with the team we managed the tire change well and with the intermediates I set the time that allowed me to access the next tranche, there I was the first to put on the supersofts, but the time trial didn't come also because it hasn't yet Q3 is the key to our single-seater. I think the race will be interesting, I will start between the two Williams. So far I've always started well, we'll see, in the end everything is possible, even if the podium obtained in 2012 with the GP2 I don't think can be replicated."
