Caterham, Pic: “With this car we can aim for something more in Monaco”

A few small setbacks, but everything was normal for the duo Caterham in the first free practice sessions in Monte Carlo.

“The tests went well despite some problems with the steering which required the technicians to intervene,” he said Charles Pic, 20th in both sessions – Initially the car was quite understeer, but in the third outing we achieved a better balance. Then in the afternoon, the car performed well and although I wasn't able to do a clean lap with the supersofts, during the long run with the options we detected a satisfactory degradation which gives us hope for the race. Last week we did some aerodynamic tests on the straight which helped us resolve some problems we had identified in Spain with the new package and today we did the litmus test on the track to see if we had resolved them. I would say that we can aim for a more advanced position both in qualifying and in the race."

“We have made progress,” he declared Giedo Van der Garde, 19th and 22nd – In the morning the grip was less than we expected, but then towards the end we managed to push. Unfortunately we had problems with the front locking and I later damaged the wing, apart from this everything went well, the traction improved as the session went on and we also resolved the oversteer in the first laps. In the afternoon the car went well straight away, we made some changes and the higher temperatures helped us get the tires running at full capacity sooner. I believe that if the red flags for Grosjean's accident hadn't interrupted my fastest lap I could have finished further ahead."
