Button: “Sainz Jr could make the difference in Formula 1”

Even though he finds himself racing with a teammate at his side much younger and above all, much more followed by the media, Carlos Sainz Jr's races so far have not gone unnoticed. The Toro Rosso driver, who managed to position himself on fifth place on the starting grid at the Spanish Grand Prix and finish the race in ninth position ahead of Max Verstappen and Daniil Kvyat, attracted the attention of a Formula 1 veteran like Jenson Button.

The 2009 World Champion assured that he was impressed by the great maturity of the Iberian and the speed which, in some cases, overshadows an uncomfortable companion like Verstappen: “Everyone always talks about Max, about the fact that he is very fast but when I find myself talking about young people with my colleagues, everyone is impressed from the qualities that Carlos has shown. He is a lot intelligent, mature and fast – commented the McLaren driver – If he continues on this path, I believe he could make a serious difference in Formula 1. When Toro Rosso is forced to face difficult moments, we will see true talent of this boy."

Despite the declarations of esteem addressed to the Iberian, the Englishman is still trying to judge who, between the two Toro Rosso drivers, is the better: “The point is that both are young and are doing an excellent job. We have to wait until the end of the season to understand who between the two is truly the stronger."
