Button: “Difficult qualifying in Singapore”

Jenson Button will start the Singapore Grand Prix from fourth on the grid. The McLaren driver, despite the best partial in the central section, was unable to do better than his teammate Lewis Hamilton, who was third today behind Fernando Alonso and Sebastian Vettel.

“Q3 was very tough: I pushed hard, because I was the first out of the pit and we wanted to make sure we could make two runs; but in the first sector I damaged my rear tires a bit and afterwards I suffered a bit” explained Button.

“So, on the second run, I did a slower exit lap, and in the first sector I was more conservative, but I didn't get the tires up to temperature well and I struggled. The second and third sectors were very good, but I wasn't able to make up the time lost in the first, and that cost me two tenths” added the McLaren driver.

“But fourth place isn't bad; we are much closer to Red Bull. Ferrari also seems fast, but I'm reasonably happy, much happier with last year's qualifying, when I started 11th” declared Button.
