Button: “The humped face is not a trick”
McLaren has confirmed that the "humped" nose seen yesterday in Barcelona on the MP4-26 will not be used in the race. “It was just for testing,” said the English team.
Jenson Button joked about it: “Unfortunately it's not a new trick that will make us faster.”
According to the British press, McLaren is seriously behind schedule in preparing for the first race, with BBC commentator and former F1 driver Martin Brundle describing the car as "a disaster".
“It doesn't brake,” he told the Telegraph after seeing the car in action in Spain. "It does not spin. He can't put the power to the ground. Clearly they have an underlying problem."
Officially, Button praised the team's progress yesterday, but then told reporters he did not expect to win a third consecutive Australian GP.
“I would be surprised to be able to fight with Red Bull and Ferrari in Melbourne,” said Button.
“If we had the third fastest car in the first race it would be a good start to the season” we read in Tarun Sanomat.
