Button: “It will be difficult to get the podium on Sunday”

Sixth place achieved by Jenson Button at the end of the qualifications of Abu Dhabi GP puts the pilot McLaren in an awkward position ahead of Sunday's race. It won't be easy to reach the podium and the British driver is aware of this, especially after struggling in qualifying: his time in Q3 was 0.660 seconds slower than that of his teammate Lewis Hamilton.

When asked if he could have fought for the podium on Sunday, Button did not go too far but admitted: “It won't be easy, no, but the goal is certainly to get points for the team.”

“It was a tough qualifying because throughout the weekend I was very happy with the car and the pace was good – continued Button -, but in qualifying with both sets of tires there were balance problems. It's very strange, but I hope tomorrow will be better.".

The medium compound tires especially let him down. “Especially with the first ones I noticed difficulties and I was really surprised by how far I was from the top. All weekend I was very strong with both tyres. Is very strange"he concluded.
