Button: “Really fun to drive in Monaco with these cars”
The Englishman then praised the new asphalt in the central sector
Despite the rain ruining its plans regarding work on the set-up, McLaren promotes its first day of testing in Monte Carlo.
“I must admit that it is fun to drive the MP4-29 on this track even though there is a lack of mechanical grip – the reflection of Jenson Button, 11th and 8th – Regarding the tyres, the super softs went well, while with the intermediates I often ended up locking up in fifth gear. I would like to congratulate whoever laid the asphalt in the central sector. He really did a great job and the fit seemed excellent. For tomorrow I hope for some sun."
“Apart from the lack of downforce there were no problems, so once that is resolved we can really make progress – he commented Kevin Magnussen, 9th and 10th – I couldn't concentrate on the set-up, however I can't complain because I had fun. I'm looking forward to the test with a low fuel load and new tyres."
