Brundle: “McLaren Honda? The question mark of the season”

At all three winter testing sessions, McLaren-Honda was targeted by troubles of all kinds, from reliability and power unit problems, also due to the freshness of the project that unites the English with the Japanese, up to Fernando Alonso's accident, which will force the Iberian to sit out the first Grand Prix of the season. This is the general view expressed by Martin Brundle, a former Formula 1 driver who, thanks to his role as a television commentator for Sky Sport, was able to observe the MP4-30 up close.

According to the former driver, Ron Dennis would also have briefed him on the potential of the pair McLaren-Honda: “The MP4-30 seems to be performing just as badly as Red Bull did last winter, but let's not forget that it ended up finishing second in the championship. Ron told me that the Japanese ones are absolutely the best structures he has ever seen – he underlined – It's true, at the beginning they had a bit of problems, but I wouldn't want to say that they are doomed for the rest of the season."
