Brendon Hartley third driver for Red Bull and Toro Rosso
di F1 editorial teamMarch 10, 2009
Brendon Hartley, a 19-year-old New Zealander, will be reserve driver for both Red Bull teams in 2009. The news was confirmed by Toro Rosso boss Franz Tost during the Barcelona tests.
"We at Toro Rosso and Red Bull Racing will share the third driver. He is Brendon Hartley, coming from the Red Bull academy" declared the Austrian.
Takuma Sato had previously been tipped as the favorite for that role but last week he declared his disappointment at the lack of a deal.
Hartley, who raced in British F3 last year, recently obtained his FIA superlicence by completing the required mileage in a winter test.
