Boullier had to shake off the ghost of Briatore

Eric Boullier stated that one of his goals, in 2010, was to get rid of the ghost of Flavio Briatore.

At a time when Renault F1 was in tatters after the crashgate affair, Frenchman Boullier was appointed boss by new owner Genii, and kept the job even when Lotus Group arrived.
Thinking back to his arrival a year ago, he told Autohebdo.fr: “I saw the ghost of my predecessor everywhere. I eliminated everything that had to do with him." Boullier said he was happy to find himself at the helm of the Enstone team, and told L'Equipe that he hopes the black and gold Lotus Renault wins races.
“I want people to look at this team like they look at Ferrari or McLaren. Now I feel like I'm part of it, and everything is much easier. I'm happy to still be here. The fact that the team has gained respect is a huge victory, and it was my first challenge. If it hadn't worked I would have done something else, but a year has passed and I'm still here!”
