Boullier: “Fernando believes in the Mclaren-Honda combination”

Eric Boullier doesn't believe in Fernando Alonso's "stomach aches" after the bad performance of Mclaren-Honda in the latest tests at Jerez de la Frontera. In an interview given to Sky Sport News, the current Race Director of Mclaren explained that he strongly believes in Fernando Alonso's talent and in the line-up put together by the Woking team during the winter, specifying that everyone is aware of the great potential of the Mclaren-Honda combination. The approximately eighty laps completed in Andalusia did not ruin the Spaniard's confidence in the team, but rather increased the desire for revenge after a rather disappointing start.

Here are the words of Eric Boullier: “We haven't done many laps but we have made progress and the experience gained here is a lot. The first objective in the short term is the Barcelona test and we will have to make sure we do more laps and understand more details in the development of the car. After that, we will put ourselves in a position where we hope to be competitive in Melbourne. We will focus our attention on the present, we will only think about the future later."

“Fernando believes in Mclaren - He continued - and in this partnership with Honda, so we are all very calm. We all want to start a new chapter of this wonderful combination that amazed us so much in the early 90s. We believe in our riders and in the choices made during the winter. We also believe in Kevin's future and think that this year of apprenticeship will allow him to re-present himself in Formula One as a protagonist."

He is learning a lot from Jenson and Fernando and I think he will come back even stronger. In general we have a good combination of Anglo-Saxon and Latin character. She is one of the best in the paddock"He concluded.
