BMW Sauber F1: Balance problems at Magny-Cours

Robert Kubica:
“It seems to be a difficult weekend for us. After yesterday's free practice I expected us to suffer. The balance of the car is not what I want and my car has little grip overall. The gap to the top teams seems to have remained unchanged, and at the same time the other teams seem to have made a big step forward. My goal now is to collect as many points as possible for tomorrow's race, it certainly won't be easy."

Nick Heidfeld:
“The Magny-Cours circuit is completely different from that of Montreal and from the beginning of the weekend we were not as competitive as in the last few races. But we were still hoping for a better qualification. I'm 12th and Robert has just entered the top ten, which is certainly not what the team expects. If I look at my situation with the car I can see significant progress. I'm closer to the limit of the car. There are a couple of cents between Robert's times and mine. I will start from 11th position due to Lewis Hamilton's penalty and I can choose my strategy for the race. Even though not even the best strategy can improve the pace, we want to have a good race tomorrow."

Mario Theissen (BMW Motorsport Director):
“We are certainly not happy with the result in qualifying. However, we saw in free practice that our car is not as fast as usual. Nick was unlucky today. Despite being only six hundredths slower than Robert, he missed out on the top ten in qualifying. Robert's qualification didn't go smoothly either. We went from hard tires to soft and then back to hard. In the end, he missed the second row. We will start from sixth and 11th position. We'll see after the first pitstops what it will be possible to obtain from these positions."
