Bernie Ecclestone snubs Formula E: “It will never reach F1 levels”
Mister E. appeared skeptical about the electric championship
Will Formula E (the electric championship created by the FIA, now in its second edition) ever be able to compete with the premier class of motorsport? In the opinion of Bernie Ecclestone, F1 should not fear the rival series which however boasts the presence of important brands such as Renault, Citroen and Audi.
“I doubt – declared Mister E. in London all'Advertising Week Europe 2016 – that there will be electric cars all over the world in the future. Formula E will never be able to compete with Formula 1. That's why I'm absolutely not worried." On the V6 turbo, which has replaced the V2014 on F8 single-seaters since 1, the Circus boss has expressed all his doubts: “It's a thruster Fantastic, a real piece of engineering. But that's not what our category needs".
“We live in the world of entertainment. This engine is truly advantageous from a technical point of view for production cars. It should equip these cars and not those of F1".
