Berger: “Hulkenberg still in the running for the Ferrari seat”

While Kimi Raikkonen's farewell to Ferrari is considered increasingly probable by various insiders, there has already been talk for several weeks of Valtteri Bottas as his possible replacement. But according to Sport Bild the current Williams driver's arrival in Maranello would be unlikely as the Grove team has already exercised the option and the contract could be terminated upon payment of as much as 20 million dollars.

Helmut Marko of Red Bull has meanwhile declared that Daniel Ricciardo, another candidate for the second Ferrari seat, will remain at Red Bull Racing: “I know that Ferrari wants him, but there is no possibility. His contract is armored”.

The third candidate is Nico Hulkenberg, fresh winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans: “I have shown that I can win with a top car” declared the German. “People who doubted my abilities perhaps have fewer doubts now.”

And Gerhard Berger told Sport Bild: "If things go the right way, Nico still has a chance with Ferrari."
