Berger, Brawn and Bell vying to replace Domenicali at Ferrari

Yesterday, a few hours after confirming Stefano Domenicali's resignation as Ferrari team principal, Mercedes announced that its technical director, Bob Bell, will leave the team at the end of the season. The Irishman, who also worked with Fernando Alonso when the Spaniard won his titles with Renault, had arrived at Mercedes in 2011 and now there is talk of his possible arrival at Maranello in a top role.

Domenicali's immediate replacement on the Ferrari wall will be Marco Mattiacci, until now president of Ferrari North America. Bell will only be completely free from his commitments with Mercedes at the end of November.

But Bell is not the only candidate to hold a responsible role at Ferrari in the future. According to rumors, Mattiacci's hiring would only be temporary, a transition role. Gerhard Berger could then arrive in his place while other rumors speak of a return for Ross Brawn.
