Barrichello: “F1 should consider new qualifications”
di Staff26 May, 2011
Rubens Barrichello said he believes F1 should consider returning to single lap qualifying for 2012. The Brazilian veteran said elimination sessions are no longer interesting this year because drivers tend to save for the race the Pirelli tires.
“The tires are so different to last year so it's worth rethinking the qualifying format,” the Brazilian said in Monaco.
According to Barrichello, F1 could easily return to the single lap in qualifying already used in 2003 and 2004 since the majority of drivers make only one attempt in each elimination.
“I think qualifying has been good in previous years but now we only have one run so it's worth thinking about something different for next year,” added Barrichello.
