Barrichello happy to have put an end to Williams' abstinence

Rubens Barrichello is very satisfied with having scored his first points of the season in the Monaco Grand Prix.

The Brazilian finished in ninth position, ending Williams' worst start to a Formula 1 season, with the team having failed to score points in its first five races.

Barrichello admitted he was saddened by the retirement of teammate Pastor Maldonado, but was happy to finally get some points.

“With six laps to go, I thought tenth place was the best result we could have achieved today,” he said. “I finished ninth, but not in the way I would have liked because it was at the expense of my teammate. We lost some really good points for the team which is disappointing.”

“I'm happy because I hope to have interrupted my unlucky period. The safety car didn't help us with our one-stop strategy.”

“There are positives and negatives to take from today, the positive is that we scored some points.”

Maldonado, who was fighting for an eighth place, was very disappointed after retiring a few laps from the end, when he was involved in a contact with Hamilton.

“The final result is not what we wanted, but the rest of the race was good. My pace was strong but after the restart Hamilton tried a very ambitious maneuver at the first corner and that was the end of my race. I'm really disappointed not to get any points today.”
