Barrichello is ready to remain with Williams also in 2012

Rubens Barrichello has declared that he is ready to sign a new contract with Williams for 2012, in light of the new agreement with Renault for the supply of engines.

The changes of technicians, including the arrival of mike coughlan and the change of engine supplier gave him the motivation to continue.

“Yes, without a doubt my motivation has increased. My intention was to continue next year and beyond. As always, they can see how hard I'm pushing. I still lose weight, push the team to the limit. The car isn't good but I keep my motivation. They have everything from me."

“It's nice to see how things are changing, because everyone's morale is sky high. Of course, I want to continue racing and I would like to do it with them."

Also Adam Parr seems intent on keeping Barrichello in the team for 2012 too, given the support and input provided by the Brazilian to the team.

“I'm very keen to keep him for next season too.”

The Brazilian driver explained and described the atmosphere at Williams, now that many things have changed since the beginning, when the Grove team had the worst start to the season ever: “It's all very different. I've already talked to Mike Coughlan and I've talked to a lot of people. I will have some more discussions this week with the aerodynamics guys. You can see the difference."

“The guys are working hard. They're not happy with how we're ranked, we shouldn't even be there, in a way. It's very frustrating to drive the car this year, with grip that isn't yet optimal, and we haven't made the step forward yet."

“With a Renault engine we hope to improve the situation. It's light, drivable, has a lot of good things and should help the team moving forward. You can see the light at the end of the tunnel, that's what I can say. I'm not here to make up numbers, and I'm not here to go around in circles. I've had enough of this. I want to have a car – like the one from the season at Brawn – to get what I deserve and the team seems to be in a prosperous situation anyway. It's going in the right direction."

The engine change may not bring the desired results, but it is a fundamental source of motivation for the technicians and employees in the team, according to Barrichello.

Finally, the Brazilian said a few words about Mike Coughlan, one of the key men in the infamous “spy story”: “He is a very serene and helpful person. We met and he took notes on everything I said. It was a great conversation and we were together for about three hours. It was a good meeting and I'm sure with his experience and knowledge he will go well. And he wants to prove that he deserves the job, after everything that happened to him. He wants to prove that he is a good man and does not want to be considered bad. I'm sure we'll make a great duo, him and me."
