Barrichello should have raced the last 3 GPs with Caterham!
Barrichello would take Kobayashi's place in the final 3 GPs
Just two weeks have passed since the day the news of the closing of collaboration between Rubens Barrichello and the Brazilian broadcaster TV Globo. The Paulista driver would have been shown the door for some violations of internal rules. The former Ferrari driver, in addition to refusing to mention Red Bull using the acronym as an alternative, would appear to have taken advantage of his role to propose himself to various Formula 1 teams in the hope of returning to the track. AND he had done it! According to what journalist Adam Cooper writes, Kolles, under pressure from the organizers of the Brazilian GP, was working to allow the 42-year-old to drop at the wheel of the Caterham for the last three races of the year.
Barrichello would have taken the place of Kamui Kobayashi in the last world events in Austin, Sao Paulo and Abu Dhabi, but the financial bankruptcy of the Leafield team has the whole operation was nullified: “We would have raced with Barrichello in the last two races,” confided a source within the Caterham team. Confirmation also came from the former driver himself: “It would have been great to race in front of my fans. We had found the sponsors for this operation and everything was going well. That would have been amazing!”, commented the 42-year-old on Cooper's blog.
