Barcelona: the F1 circuit could change

The Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona is ready to change the track if this year's Formula 1 Spanish GP is not spectacular despite the improved show of the premier category.

Sunday's race will be the real test for the new rules, since the Spanish race has been won 16 times out of 20 by the driver who took pole from 1991 to today.

If the race is not at the level of previous GPs, as in Turkey where 80 overtakings were seen, the Spanish circuit could be modified. The new director of the plant Salvador Servia admitted this to the newspaper La Vanguardia.

“If it is really necessary we will make the necessary investments because we want to offer an excellent show” he added.

Servia explained that the negotiations with MotoGP and Formula 1 for the renewal of Montmelo's contracts are in the waiting phase.
