Bahrain, the GP increasingly in doubt

While F1 prepares to race in China, controversy surrounds the Bahrain GP which risks cancellation again this year due to the revolutionary unrest in the country.

F1 teams have denied Bernie Ecclestone's claim that teams were "free to race or not" in Bahrain.

“It would not be possible, it is not the teams' job to cancel an event” reads a note from FOTA.

Bahrain meanwhile responded to international criticism by accusing the press of adopting a "terror" tactic to force the cancellation of the race.

The organizers have released a report from Lotus, after a recent visit by a delegation from the Enstone team to Bahrain. “We returned from Bahrain much more optimistic about controlling the situation” reads the report from the former Renault team. The team, however, reacted with annoyance, accusing the organizers of having published a "confidential" document.

“The Lotus F1 Team is one of the 12 competitors in the 2012 Formula 1 World Championship and could never try to replace the FIA” reads a note from the team.

“Maybe we shouldn't have renewed the contract,” Ecclestone admitted to the BBC. “We'll see what to do.”
