At Hockenheim Ferrari wanted to motivate Massa

According to the president of the Spanish automobile federation Carlos Gracia, this would be the reason that Ferrari gave to reject the accusation of having imposed team orders on its drivers.

Gracia, present yesterday at the World Motor Sport Council in Paris, said that Felipe Massa would have let Fernando Alonso pass because he was angry. “Massa was told over the radio that he was slower than Alonso, but only to motivate him. Angry at the message, Massa decided to slow down and this led to the suspicion of team orders."

Gracia would also have revealed that, speaking to Alonso, the Spaniard assured him that he was not aware of any orders given by the team towards his teammate.

The news still lacks confirmation, especially from Ferrari and those directly involved, so we are repeating it to you as rumoured, in the meantime, laugh about it.

  • OK, come on, you need an official reason given that team orders are prohibited.
they certainly couldn't say that Massa had to let Alonso pass as he was fighting for the title!

  • An official response was needed. It is obvious (and under everyone's eyes) that the reality is different.
But, on the other hand, I agree with the revision of the current legislation: if there is a constructors' championship, it is obvious that the constructor must be able to have the tactical tools to win. At the end of the championship it will certainly be abolished (after all, everyone does it in a more or less visible way).
