Assen could host a Formula 1 GP
The Dutch track would like to apply for a future stage of the World Championship
The Netherlands could soon return to the world of Formula 1.
This was revealed by the newspaper De Telegraaf, which reported on the possibility of a concrete Dutch return to the circus with a brand new grand prix, perhaps on the Assen.
The circuit, historic theater of epic challenges in the MotoGP, has a contract with MotoGP until 2026 and a 60 million upgrade plan for the next few years.
The director of the racetrack said he was a possibility of an arrival in Formula 1, Arjan Bos: “We have always wondered if an F1 GP in Assen is possible. I reply that it is possible and that there is enough money to make it happen, we are very interested."
However, Bos specified that for this to become a reality it would take a few years to prepare changes that would make the track suitable for F1 single-seaters.
